Jacket Patches

Many crew members during the war would put patches on the front, shoulders and back of their jackets. In some cases jackets could have up to 5 patches. These patches are typically painted on leather or sewn cloth types. They would represent everything from the bomb group they belonged too, to the airplane's name they served on. These patches are important to the history of the jacket and many times we can pay a premium for jackets that still have these patches attached or still with the jacket but separated. Please keep in mind that we even purchase just patches if the jacket is not available.

Jacket Art or Nose Art

On occasion individuals or entire crews would have their jackets painted on the back. This art work many times was a reproduction of the nose art of the air plane. This allowed the crews to show with pride the plane they served on and also at times to keep track of how many missions they had been on. Jackets with art work on the back are not rare but we do pay premium for these!
